| Salcerella 2010, a wine for everyday |
"Vino quotidiano" is the award assigned to our Salcerella 2010 by Slow Wine, Slow Food Editors, special mention for a wine sold at less than € 10 in wineshops.
Aso the winery is awarded with "the bottle", symbol to those estates expressing a very good price and quality in all the labels tasted.

The official Italian Sommelier Association puts also this year our Sangiovese Riserva Thea in the place of honour. The 2009 vintage is awarded with the most ambitious prize. The 5 bunches awards ceremony will be held in Rome during a prestigeous gala dinner at the Cavalieri Hilton Hotel.

Once again and for the third consecutive year, Petrignone Sangiovese Riserva 2008 is awarded with the most ambitious prize. The 3 glasses award will be officially assigned with a ceremony at the Auditorium del Massimo, Rome, on October,22nd.

| Waiting for the harvest |
The last operations before the harvest were ended yesterday.
The thinning out of the exceeding clusters should direct all the energies of the vines into the remaining clusters which will, in this way, become stronger and more concentrated.
The recent change of color ended in a short time thanks to the rains fallen in the right period. It's for this reasonthat we can anticipate soft tannins in the red wines, which is very good news!
Now we can't do anything else but hoping in a necessarily good wheather and begin our personal countdown.....

In the last number of the well-known wine magazine, see www.enogea.it, you'll find an interesting special on Sangiovese di Romagna, of which the new disciplinary, being effective from 2011 vintage, speaks for the first time of the "sottozone". These are the micro-areas of production of which the producer will have the option to write the names on the labels so that the consumer can be given a more detailed information even from a first glance. On the magazine you can see a complete map of the micro-areas and read how the wines were tasted following this new grouping.
Our riservas Thea and Petrignone, from Forlì estate, belong to a "sottozona" called ORIOLO. But it's not excluded that we'll produce a riserva from Imola best vineyards in a next future. In this case the production micro-area or sottozona will be the so-called Serra.

Thea, sangiovese di Romagna DOC riserva 2009, is awarded this year again with the "eccellenza" meaning a wine with a score of 86 or more in the wine guide "Emilia Romagna da bere e da mangiare 2011/2012" by Emilia Romagna official sommellerie association.

| The berries change colour |
We are only in the first half of the month of July and the vintage is announced to be in advantage as in the recent years only 2007 was.
As a matter of fact we could observe the first berries changing colour on 9th July that year, only a very few days in advantage compared to this year.
In the picture below see a cluster of Sangiovese (Vigna Fichi, Petrignone) with the first berries change of colour.

| Topping |
Since some years we have excellent results with the vines topping operated following the moon phases, a practice stolen from the biodynamic agriculture. In this way we can reduce much the excess of vegetation of our plants and give them a better balance.
In the picture below a young vine of Sangiovese in the Imola estate just after the topping on 1st July, a propitiuos date following the moon calendar.

| Towards an organic agriculture |
June 2011. The last month of April officially began our conversion period towards an organic agriculture. This project will be developped in all our vineyards of Imola and Forlì and will be fully achieved within 3 years.
After the total grassing, the grass cut is one of the first operations in the vineyards. Perhaps we are going too far but the green is so vivid that it really gives the inpression of a new life !

| A new wine in the without sulphites range. |
After many tests and above all a great obstinacy, the first white without added sulphites of our range saw the light of the day.
The first 5000 bottles of SoNo Bianco, an elegant but expressive chardonnay, are finally ready.

| Early harvest, no doubts |
The harvest is proceeding very fast : the hot temperatures of the last weeks made the grapes ripen before than usual.
After the sauvignon grapes, the chardonnay, the trebbiano and the albana, it was the better exposed sangiovese grapes time.
The wines present many affinities with the 2003 and 2007 vintage : they are rich, fat but still reveal a good aromatic part. The picture below shows how a tank ofsangiovese wine after a pumping over.

| Ready ! |
First day of harvest at Tre Monti estate : the tropical temperatures of the last period decided the time has come and we can't wait any more. The first grapes picked will be the delicate Sauvignon Blanc whose already formed aromas can't be shocked by this heavy hot. Waiting for more regular temperatures, good luck for the harvest to anyone.
