Albane of Romagna award: Imola Rules !!
For seven years, the “Albana Dei” Competition has awarded the best Albana Secco.
Tasting more than 50 “candidates”, first a technical jury chooses the best 6 Albana, and among these the winner (Albana Dei award), then, throughout the following month these 6 “super Albana” are submitted to a tasting tour to enthusiasts from all over Romagna. From these tastings comes the “public” prize, (the “indigenous of the Heart” prize dedicated to the memory of Walter Dal Pane, creator, together with Andrea Spada, of the competition).
Our Albane have always entered the final, and almost always on the podium (last year our Vitalba won the Albana Dei prize of the technical jury). This year an important fact has emerged. The Albanians from Imola “dominated the competition: three Albanians in the final (Tre Monti, Monticino Rosso and Cà dei quattro archi), and gold and silver in both sections:
Albana Dei Award (technical jury):
1st classified Codronchio 2017 Fattoria Monticino Rosso
2°nd place Vitalba 2018 Agr. Tre Monti
Indigenous Heart Award (public judgment)
1st place Vitalba 2018 Az. Agr. Tre Monti
2nd place Codronchio 2017 Fattoria Monticino Rosso
In short: there is nothing for anyone: Imola and its hills have become the reference area for the Romagna DOCG Albana Secco 🙂
